Wheel wire brushes can be mounted to an arbor or used with grinders, robotic finishing tools, or other equipment. Steel, stainless steel, or brass wires can be crimped or knotted to form a wheel brush. The conventional wheel wire brush has a two-inch arbor hole and a range of wire diameters. Wheel wire brushes typically have wire filament lengths of six to eight inches. Wheel brushes offer straight-line cleaning for surface finishing, cleaning, polishing, deburring, and paint removal. Wheel brushes are available from various manufacturers and can be installed in groups or used separately.
Strip Wire Brushes
Strip brushes are linear design brushes with a core wire, a metal channel, and metal brush filaments of various sorts. They are also known as channel brushes or metal channel strip brushes. Filaments that can be less than a half inch or longer than eight inches can range from one inch to several feet. Metal bristles are attached to a core wire and U-shaped metal channel strip brush to form a metal channel strip. A flat metal sheet is bent into a "U" shape to create the channel. Additionally, the filaments are folded into a U shape, with the center wire positioned at the base of the fold. The folded filaments with their center wire are put into the metal channel before the channel is pushed tightly shut such that the filaments and center wire are securely held in place.
Depending on the maker or customer, twisted-in-wire brushes go by various names. For example, the names could be internal cleaning brushes, tubes, bottles, pipes, spirals, etc. They can be used with power and manual instruments, including drills and CNC machining machinery. Twisting stem wires to firmly hold the filaments in place allows for the creation of twisted brushes. Many sizes of twisted wire brushes are available, including miniature or micro brushes. The purpose of these incredibly tiny brushes is to clean close-tolerance holes drilled in metallic and non-metallic objects.
Cup Wire Brushes
Cup wire brushes are available in various styles and varieties, just like other brushes. They are sometimes specifically created to work with a particular production or finishing application. Cup brushes are employed in the surface cleaning, polishing, and descaling processes. They have filaments made of high-density crimped wire. Wire filaments made of brass, steel, or stainless steel are put into a cup-shaped base, giving wire cup brushes their name. The filaments or bristles might be twisted, knotted, or crimped.
Applications of Wire Brushes
Wire brushes are frequently used for cleaning and removal but are also excellent for priming surfaces for finishing. Cleaning with a wire brush is done to get a surface ready for surface protection.
